The selection in Master is based on the quality of the academic background and on students' motivation.

Who can apply ?

The Light S&T Master program is open to motivated French and International students holding a Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Engineering.  The selection is based on a fair competitive process.

The "Etudes en France" procedure involves students residing in one of the following 65 countries:

International students covered by this procedure must  send their applications to Campus France before applying to the Light S&T Master's degree.

2 - Apply to the Master's degree :

For French students, European students and students that are not residing in a country mentioned in the above list.

Calendar of the Apoflux web portal

  • First year of Master : from April 25, 2022 to May 15, 2022
  • Second year of Master : from March 28, 2022 to July 15, 2022

All candidates that have missed the Apoflux web portal deadline must contact us by email.

2. Select the Education College "TEC- Collège Sciences et Technologies" and the desired entry level 

  • Niveau Master 1 : First year of Master
  • Niveau Master 2 : Second year of Master

3. Select the field of studies between Physics, Chemistry or Biology according to your background :

  • M1 Physique EUR LIGHT : Physics
  • M1 Chimie EUR LIGHT : Chemistry
  • M1 Ingénierie de la Santé EUR LIGHT : Biology

4. Fill in the different fields with your personal data and upload the required documents

Important information

Visa procedures are students' responsabilities, therefore the Light S&T Graduate program will not take action in this process in any way. Students must contact directly Campus France or the French ambassy of their country for any question related to the Visa.

Required documents

The following documents are required for the application:

  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) or Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) If you have not yet finished your current academic degree, you may apply likewise with a preliminary transcript of records including all completed courses thus far;
  • a comprehensive curriculum vitae (CV). Please list all stages of your education in chronological order. Further, we need a clear statement about your current status and/or occupation including information on current employments, unemployment, or parental leave;
  • a motivation letter (600 words at maximum and to be typed);
  • a transcript of records with marks;
  • your high school (=secondary school) leaving certificate with marks;
  • a copy of your passport;
  • a proof of English proficiency by:

-TOEFL , TOIEC, IELTS or an equivalent English test (minimum points/grades);

-Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) exam or Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) exam

language exemptions: The following students are exempted from providing the proof of English proficiency :

- Nationals from the USA, U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or Canada, or - BSc and MSc graduates who obtained their qualification in one of these countries.

If applying for a scholarship, two additional letters of recommendation from professors are required. Please check the scholarship information and apply for scholarship funding if you are eligible.

IOGS engineering school double degree track

Students have the possibility to apply for the following double degree track : Master in Light Sciences and Technologies + SupOptique Engineer Diploma.

The track is composed by a 3 year training course :

1st year : corresponding to the 1st year of Master in Light Sciences and Technolgies

2nd year : corresponding to the second year of the Engineer training course (Institut d'Optique, Bordeaux)

3rd year : corresponding to the 3rd year of the Engineer training course + the second year of Master in Light Sciences and Technologies (combined courses)

Admission process :

To be admitted in 2nd year, students are required to obtain a minimum average of 14/20.

Applications have to be sent when applying for the 1st year of Master in Light Sciences and Technologies or after having validated the 1st year.

Selection process

Once an application and supporting documents have been submitted, the files are reviewed by a selection committee.

The Selection Committee can contact pre-selected students for an online interview.

Tuition fees

Annual registration fees for all selected applicants are calculated according to the University of Bordeaux rules and regulations.

Partial exoneration can be granted upon request to the University of Bordeaux to students coming from outside of the EU and the EEA for the duration of their cursus.
